The roots of the present firm date back to the 1950's, when four veterans of World War II and the Korean War formed a law firm to serve railroad union members under the Federal Employees Liability Act and other types of personal injury claims. This resulted in the Firm litigating in every state East of the Mississippi for the next half century.
That experience and the passage of time has seen many changes, not only in the Attorneys and staff, but also in the areas of practice the firm offered to its clients. In 1970, after two tours in Vietnam, James B. Blumenstiel joined the firm, specializing in personal injury litigation, as well as FELA. In 1999, Laura C. Blumenstiel returned from her practice in Akron to join the firm, expanding the firm's practice areas to include probate and estate adminstration. J. Michael Evans then joined the firm, further expanding the firm's expertise to include probate litigation and psychiatric law. In 2003, Aaron R. Falvo joined BEF, adding workers' compensation, business formation and litigation to the firm offerings. A year later, Braden A. Blumenstiel joined the firm, further expanding the practice areas to include real estate litigation, criminal defense and employment law.
